The leadership style implemented in an organization determines how employees work
together as a team. Leaders should consider the type of leadership implement to avoid mistrust
that can affect the knowledge-sharing process. Trustworthy and knowledgeable leaders attract
the following factors that facilitate the process of knowledge sharing.
Trust
Trust is essential in the knowledge-sharing process because it determines whether
employees are safe sharing their ideas that can elevate the organization's performance. According
to Javed et al (2018), employees are likely to share sensitive information with either managers or
their counterparts if they trust the leadership schemes implemented in the organization. On the
other hand, if employees lose their leader's trust, they conceal crucial information because
sharing it will be of no help to the organization. Therefore, a trustworthy leader influences
employees to brainstorm and freely share ideas that help the team identify vulnerabilities that
would have affected organizational performance and deprive it of competitive advantage in the
market, leading to total shutdown.
