Description
Wireless Technology
There are a number of cellular phone companies each serving their own unique geographical areas. Likewise, they each may use a different technology to transfer communication. Research the pros and cons 3G and 4G technologies and its role in today’s applications.
Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:
1. Compare the pros and cons of 3G and 4G technology to determine the best uses of 3G and 4G technology in today’s applications.
2. Describe how an enterprise would use 3G, 4G, WWAN, and WIAMX to improve business. Explain why they would use one (1) solution over the remaining three (3).
3. Analyze the changes in 4G technology since the printing of the textbook in 2009 and identify those of importance for a user of 4G technology.
4. Take a position on the following statement, “Wireless application protocol is a necessity for wireless communication organizations and their users.” Then, explain your position with supporting evidence.
5. Use at least four (4) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Abstract
Technology is an ever changing and evolving sector following the increasing demand of a
technology-driven society. With the advancements in technology, wireless networks are gaining a
pacing recognition from the huge multinational corporations to the common end-user. This paper
provides a comparative analysis of the 3G and the 4G network standards. It examines the main
pros and cons of the two technologies and its best uses in today’s applications. It also describes
the use of 3G, 4G, WWAN and 4G technology for business improvement. An analysis of the 4G
evolution since 2009 with its importance to the end user is provided. The paper finalizes with
discussion of why the wireless application protocol is a necessity.

Introduction
Cellular communication is gaining a significant popularity following the internet evolution
to the broadband access. 3G network, also identified as the third generation internet technology, is
used primarily in the operations of mobile telecommunications to provide high speed internet
access (Gulshan, 2014). This network also offers high internet access to the laptop personal
computers. Founded on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), 3G represents an
improvement from the 2G technology (Kumar, 2013). 4G network, which stands for the fourth
generation, is the successor of 3G standards. The two main types of 4G data networks recognized
are WIMAX, developed by sprint, and LTE which is an extension of GMS network. 4G standards
offers mobile ultra-broadband internet access.
Comparison of the pros and Cons of 3G and 4G internet technology
3G has a fast and better mobile communication standard, offering a download speed of up
to 3.1Mbps. The portable high internet speed allows the smart phone users to browse the internet,
video conference, download multimedia app...
