Assignment 2:
Choose any four articles you read (excluding the Introductions) and write 3 to 4
pages on aspects related to your own work setting that were points of learning that
reframed your thinking, challenged your current perspectives, or reinforced your
beliefs.
The reading and writing are necessary to prepare for the work we will accomplish
together during the class sessions. Lack of preparation (i.e. reading and writing) will
negatively affect the capacity to engage with the material and participate in class
discussions and activities.
This pre-work will provide the foundation for building upon this work by generating
new experiences to apply, test, evaluate and discuss in a theoretical and practical
context.
Assignment 3:
A) Review your own organization’s mission, vision, and value statements and assess
their alignment to Human Resource functions. Are there disparities? If so how? Are
there congruencies? If so, where?
Be prepared to share in a small group your findings and the organization’s mission,
vision, and values. Post samples in the course One Drive file or send to the
instructor from the organization’s communication venues that can be made available
for colleagues to view.
Identify whether your organization has developed a strategic plan. Be prepared to
describe their strategic planning process, as you understand it. If your organization
does not have a strategy or strategic plan, prepare to explain why not, the implications
and impact.
Conduct a search for 3 research studies that have been conducted on the topic of
Strategic HRM and be prepared to briefly describe the essence of each study. Post
articles or abstracts in the course One Drive file set-up for them.

A) Research case studies of organizations:
• Choose a corporation and evaluate its ability to demonstrate Strategic HR principles.
• Prepare a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation (8-10 slides) describing:
1.The corporation – its purpose, mission, values, and culture
2.How the corporation presents its efforts utilizing strategic HR principles
3.Identify and define the partnerships necessary for success
• Preparation and presentation will be evaluated based on content, reflection, and
delivery.

Reflection Paper: Write an 8-10 page paper that includes self-reflection on insights
or observations you may have had or experience and summarize your ideas/assertions
on Strategic HR in the 21st century and the implications on practice within the field of
Organization Development/Psychology. Tie these insights and observations into the
competencies outlined under II-C, Specific Learning Objectives.
II-C: Specific Learning Objectives
The course is structured to make use of students’ experiences and knowledge by building a
community of learners. Learning in the course is geared both to the personal and to the
professional as we consider the nature and implications of diversity, differing styles of learning
and the way these are intertwined. This course plays a fundamental role in supporting the
