HINDUISM VERSUS SIKHISM RELIGIONS

INTRODUCTION
In this paper, we shall conduct in-depth research on the similarities and differences of
practices and beliefs of Hinduism and the Sikh religion. These two religions originated in India
and it is believed that most of their followers are of Indian origin. There is a clear and
distinguished way of life among the followers of these two religions. These similarities and

SIMILARITIES
Women are considered equal to men and presented an equal opportunity to both genders
in their religious leadership. In Hinduism, women can be priestesses or nuns, while Sikhism
teaches men and women are equal before God's eyes. Both Hinduism and Sikhism believe that
life is a cycle of death and reincarnation (samsara), which can be ended by enlightenment. They
both have sacred places of worship: mandir and gurdwara for Hindu and Sikh, respectively. In
both Hinduism and Sikhism, there is a tendency toward vegetarianism. In both religions, the
bodies of the departed souls are cremated, and it is believed that the departed soul reincarnates in
another body (Şenel 1161).
