Introduction

The bystander apathy, also known as the bystander effect refers to a sociopsychological phenomenon in which people do not in any way help a victim of an emergency
in the presence of other people. The chances of helping a victim decrease with an increase in
the number of people present. These situations are caused by various factors which comprise
of cohesiveness, diffusion of responsibility, and ambiguity.
Summary
The bystander effect occurs in almost all emergency situations from health concerns
to social mistreats such as theft. In such situations, the evaluation of the bystander apathy is
not based on the reaction time but on whether the nearby individuals will respond to the
emergency and offer help or not. If help is offered, then the bystander effect would have been
avoided. Among the determining factors relating to emergency situations that affect the
