Question one
According to the US Geological Survey, only around 0.3% is available to the human population
in the form of fresh water to use. The percentage is found in lakes, rivers, and swamps. The main
reason why most of the fresh water is not available to the human population is that most of it
held is held in glaciers and icecaps, with estimates being at 68%. The other 30% is found in the
ground water.
Question two
The upper surface of the aquifer is called the water table. The aquifer contains water with the
water table, which shows that in itself, the aquifer is a hole of water. The permeable layer is one
which allows the water from the ground level to flow or trickle down to the aquifer. There is the
impermeable layer that may not allow the flow of water, with other aspects such as sand. The
level of the water level can be affected by the precipitation level, with increased rainfall leading
to an increase of the water level and the vice versa applies. The pumping of water can also be
used to boost or reduce the water levels.
Question three
Runoff can be termed at the excess water that is not able to be absorbed by the environment after
the precipitation, resulting in it being in flowing water.
A watershed refers to a land in which water flows, with the water then going to a common place
such as a river or a stream. The water main results from rainfall or any...
