At adolescence, one transitions from childhood to adulthood. It’s a major stage in human
development where several changes occur related to physical, personality, social, and intellectual
development. It begins at puberty and is characterized by several changes in adolescents. These
changes are different for males and females. Therefore, the male and female have quite a
different experience in their adolescence stage. This paper discusses the various gender
differences experiences by young people.
The first difference is observed in the interests and abilities of the two gender groups. Females
are seen to perform verbal tasks better while males are known for their better performance in
math problems and spatial tasks. In this regard, the females chose less challenging tasks, try to
avoid competition as much as possible, and are seen to have lower expectations than males. Also,
girls in adolescence are attracted to people more while boys are attracted to things. This is
demonstrated by girls wanting to spend time more in relationships and boys wanting to spend
time alone, as they engage themselves in various activities such as playing video games, playing
ball, or watching television.
