The movie “What's Love Got to Do with it” happens to be a biographical outline of the
life of Anna Mae Bullock (Tina's birth name). It concentrates on the years between, 1950s and
1980s, focusing mainly on her terrible marriage life with Ike Turner, the man behind her
successful career although almost ruined her life. Her struggles range from her abusive marriage
and the decision to make it on her own energy makes this film superb and amazing.
“What's Love Got to Do With It” begins excellently where it present Anna Mae Bullock as a
naive young girl who sings the song "This Little Light of Mine/ She is shining extra bright” with
her church choir which is against her choir mistress’ wish (Turner and Loder, 41). It is her talent
and gift that will save her from poverty and turn her into a world celeb by the name Tina Turner.
It is still what will place her in the life of the Singer Ike and make a marriage out it.
Ms. Turner who comes to be a representation of a dramatic and abusive marriage. Ms.
Turner, played by Angela Basset, is a heroine who is driven by modesty and fear. The deeper and
the most painful side of her experience is not expressed, except via the film’s picture of its rooted
villain. Tina is obliged to exhibit a business character despite being sickly from the severe and
merciless beatings. It only takes her courage to decide to break up the relationship and tell him it
is over. Ike, a locally famous bandleader and ladies' man who gives Tina her first opportunity to
be on stage and perform. He is surprised in true "Star Is Born" fashion at Tina’s show-stopping
skills (Bego, 23). This performance, which is a nicely staged model of the quality crowd-pleaser,
contains the point at which Ike cannot avoid appreciating what Tina can do.
