a. Financial literacy is defined as the ability to understand and manage financial
investments and budgets. It is a lifelong experience that begins when a person
makes his or her first interaction with money (Caplinska and Alina p.1736).
b. Financial literacy is acquired when a person understands the good and bad uses of
money. Literacy equips a person with the skills necessary to make good financial
decisions.
2. Importance of financial literacy
a. Helps prevent unexpected financial losses in current and future investments.
b. Helps create financial confidence and informed consumers (Mihalcova et al
n.p).
c. Exposes when to financial risks to expect and how to overcome them.
d. One develops the ability to make wise financial decisions for everyday living.
3. What is the level of financial literacy among students?
a. The OECD proposed the introduction of financial literacy education in schools
in 2005.
b. Incorporating financial education in the normal school curriculum is a long
procedure.
