The word hero is an English noun that is used while referring a brave person or a person
of courage admired for his noble qualities or exceptional achievements. Hero can also be defined
as an individual or the important character of literary task of whom, while in danger adversity
combats and through impressive feats of bravery ,strength, ingenuity, often sacrifice his own
concerns for a greater good (Franco et al., 2016). The original concept of hero was founded in
classical literature which remains to be the main revered element in heroic epic poetry
memorized all through ancient legends even struggling for conquest in military and also
maintaining continually blemished personal honor code.
Setterberg explains that sacrifice and suffering are the necessary heroism ingredients
(Franco, 2016). This statement is supported by the fact that ordinary people are prepared for the
extraordinary life by hardships. The work on the psychology of heroism identifies personal
transformation as one that defines heroic leadership through struggle. Setterberg quotes Nelson
Mandela as an example who endured harsh imprisonment for 27yrs before his assumption of
South Africa presidency. His ability to prevail even after his long term suffering rendered him a
worldwide hero. Therefore prominent heroic front-runners comprehend that suffering defines,
elevates, redeems, mobilizes, enriches and augments who we are. Not only these liberal leaders
refuse to allow sacrifice and suffering to setback them than they use sacrifice and suffering as
resources for mining in psychological inspiration and advantage. Most society’s transcendent
leaders are Persons who have the wisdom, maturity and are productively plumbing spiritual
reserves of sacrifice and suffering.
According to Jonathan (2004) in the modest proposal, his biography revolves on his
heroism acts. For instance, he narrates how he met many different character ranging right away
from the people of low class to talking the horses. The character of Gulliver is revealed via his

adventures as it is observed that he is amusing, interesting and likeable but he lacked the heroism
in traditional sense. He could not be seen as a hero because his resemblance was purely and more
of that of an anti-hero. Jonathan swift in some way considers Gulliver as the only choice for a
hero in his story. In some ways, since the story is narrated basically from the perspective of
Gulliver, in turn this essence makes him the only relatable character in the story. Although he
