Denomination/religion refers to belief, faith in and worshipping of some kind of a
supernatural being that is considered having extraordinary powers, especially God, a god or
gods. The main contributing factor in any religion is faith (Hayashi, 2003). There are over
10,000 distinct denominations out of which over 84% of people are sidelined to the most popular
five religions i.e. Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam, Buddhism or traditional forms of
denominations by various groups. Any form of worship is very paramount in enforcing cordial
mutual existence and any other forms of healthy relationships among people being bounded with
same beliefs in supernatural beings. In china, the most popular religion is Buddhism, having
been introduced and brought into China over 2,000 years ago. This has been developed into three
major divisions such as Tibetan, Han and the Southern form of Buddhism. A part from
Buddhism, other forms of Chinese denomination is Taoism, Islam, Confucianism and
Christianity being practiced by a section of people, majority being no-original inhabitants in
China. This essay is addressing key features of Buddhism, the main religious practices, the role
of this main religion in contemporary Chinese society, the impact of Christianity and other
