Post 1 Although the Domino's outlet in Orange Beach will cater to the tastes and customs of the local market, Globally, "Domino's is subject to various national and international laws. The company and its franchisees should abide by various federal, state, and local laws, and is subject to a number of regulations by governmental authorities, which include zoning, health, safety, sanitation, building, and fire agencies in the jurisdiction in which the store is located," (Domino's Pizza, 2015). "Social beliefs, values, and religion really affect business, and the business must be conducted in accordance with social aspects. These social factors include the demographics and cultural aspects of the external macro environment, and affect customer needs," (n.a., 2015). In order to compete in global markets, Domino's must respect local customs by tailoring their menu offerings to cater to the preferenced and tastes of the local market. Thus, with its improving international presence, Domino's could harness opportunities in international markets to enhance its market share, as well as generate incremental revenues, (Domino's Pizza, 2015). It will now extend until 2028 and includes an international distribution agreement as well. Their Kona brand is currently sold in Mexico and Brazil but this provides the company with a great opportunity to also sell their other beers in those countries and across the globe. (Brewbound, 2016) My idea of creating a new strategic business unit – CBA IPA – to brew and sell seasonal and limited release IPAs doesn’t currently contemplate a global market. The goal is to attract new customers and increase sales but more so at the small and local level. Executive leadership will need to manage resources and budgets however so this globalization initiative isn’t negatively impacted by CBA IPA and vice versa. If CBA IPA is successful in the U.S. and once the international distribution agreement is more established, the company could consider also selling those beers overseas. Since these are brewed in smaller batches, it will be critical to price the beers appropriately to cover the higher shipping costs. Taxes and regulations on alcohol vary by country so the company must understand those laws and remain compliant. The legal drinking age and underlying cultural attitudes towards beer must also be considered. Lastly, the business unit will want to target countries where consumers like IPAs. Although this is a large growth segment within the domestic craft beer market, this is not the case across the globe. The Asia-Pacific market is growing significantly and China has four of the top ten selling beers, but none of these are IPAs. (Heilpern, 2016) Brewbound. (2016, August 23).
