Activity Goals:
1. To practice resolution of force on an incline plane
2. To study the role of friction in two different type of systems an almost (ideal) frictionless
system and a system that has friction.
3. To determine the coefficient of an object on an incline plane.

Procedure:
The procedure for the activity can be found on page 46-47 of the PHYS 163A laboratory manual.

Data:
The mass of the cart and the wooden block was determined and recorded. The height of the
inclined plane was then adjusted at the end ends sitting on the bar so that the angle is
approximately 7o.
