Historically, Christianity began 2000 years ago in Palestine as a result of the work of Jesus
Christ in the company of a group of devoted faithful. The setting of the advent of Christianity was
in a scenario that the Palestine which was inhabited by the Jews and other tribes of people were
under the oppressive rule of the Roman Empire. Due to the oppression, many Judeans believed in
the change that was prophesied in their holy scriptures of a Messiah or a savior who will come and
save them. With the work of Jesus who was later killed and believed to have risen from the death,
his teachings were spread to the all of the Mediterranean by his faithful disciples. It had taken
years of persecution, killings, and oppressions before the Roman Empire embraced the religion
(Chadwick, 2015). This paper will, therefore, discuss the history of Christianity and how it became
the only religion in the Roman Empire and its reformation.
