Challenges and Obstacles Facing Muslim Women
Women face a series of problems all over the world such as poverty, political oppression,
patriarchy, and illiteracy. These issues are more extent in different parts of the world than in
others. However, some challenges and obstacles face Muslim women and are unique to them
based on some factors. Despite the fact that these same issues affect Muslim women there is a
series of obstacles that women in Muslim countries face. Muslim women are compounded with
the dilemma of having a huge population of people, stereotypes and critics argue that religion is
the beginning and cause of many of the obstacles facing women. However, this thought is flawed
in its entirety since Islam is the neither the cause of Muslim women’s issues nor is it the solution
to these problems. The debate is further propelled by the fact that different problems are
encountered by the women depending on their location such that the issues in the Western world
and different from those in the Muslim world. In a discussion of these issues that women face in
their daily lives and a comparison between the two spheres, increased sensitization among other
solutions will be recommended. Muslim women will continue to face these obstacles as long as
the world alienates and relies on stereotypes to understand them.
