Health implications of genetically modified organisms
In recent past, there has been a significant level of scientific breakthroughs, which have
had a positive impact on the world in general focusing on key issues such as productivity and
overall wellbeing of individuals. Some of these developments include the genetically modified
organisms, which are scientific inventions, which were mainly developed to improve the
livelihood of individuals. Production of genetically modified food over the years has been a major
relief to many governments across the world and have been significantly rooting for sustainable
engagement. However, genetically modified organisms have been significantly associated with
some lifestyle diseases that are very much common currently specifically obesity and other related
health problems. This paper, therefore, provides a detailed analysis of genetically modified
organisms and their role in influencing the health of individuals.
Genetically modified foods have become a major source of concern for health and the
environmental effects that are involved. Even though it was highly praised as a significant
scientific invention, its true impact is being felt across the globe. The modern engineering plan has
widely been used in creating modified plants which have different development stages compared
to other natural plants. Genetically modified organisms have significantly replaced our diet with
many of the genetically altered foods, which are very much detrimental to human health (Klümper,
Wilhelm, and Matin, 31). Genetically modified products have been developed in a very rare
condition where in most cases they are resistant to pesticides. Linking genes of different species
through genetic engineering process create them something that is not achievable in normal

occurrence. Therefore the engineering process involved in creating these links plants creates a very
critical environment where the health concerns involved are not completely known which makes
the whole process very risky and dangerous to human health especially since there has been a
significant rise in the consumption of genetically modified organisms (Klümper, Wilhelm, and
Matin, 39).
The simplicity involved in creating the genetically engineered plants is shifting the whole
process where many farmers prefer to plant genetically modified plants since they mature faster
and the harvest is very high rather than natural plants, which take a lot of time to mature while the
harvest is not clearly forecasted. This is another consideration, which is highly exposing
individuals to genetically modified products whose overall impact on an individual health is not
yet scientifically established. Genetically modified organisms are filled with toxic substances,
which are detrimental t...
