Each class member is required to complete one (1) word-processed current event summary. Please select your current issues from the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Fortune, or similar business oriented publications. The event must have happened within the last year and be relevant to the organizational behavior material presented in the course on the respective week. You will be presenting the components listed below to the class and will be leading a class discussion on the topic (for approximately 20 minutes). Dates for your presentation will be determined on the first day of class.

“You Should Never Be Too Busy to Engage With Your Employees”
The article is about the importance of employee engagement through the use of
participative leadership style and encouragement of teamwork amongst the employees and
between the employees and the top management. The author puts forward some of the reasons
that are necessary to ensure employee engagement. According to the author, to ensure the
engagement of the employees an organization should maintain laissez-faire and participative
styles of leadership as opposed to autocratic leadership. The management should remove all the
bureaucracy that must be followed by employees before performing their duties. As the leader of
the organization, it is necessary that you maintain a positive relationship by continually being
involved the in the performance of duties. In addition, it is also necessary that as a leader you
ensure the use of different leadership style according to the types and kind of duties. For
example, when performing a repetitive action, autocratic leadership whereas when performing
duties that require innovations, participative leadership may be appropriate.
