Impact of Pandemics on Consumer Behavior
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused different changes to businesses and one of the areas which
have been impacted is the consumer behavior. As a measure of controlling the spread of the
virus, authorities have introduced safety precautions. Some of these procedures restrict people
from moving to different places especially markets hence requiring consumers to adopt new
behaviors especially in ordering and purchasing various commodities.
In the view of the way consumer behavior have been impacted by the pandemic, people are now
ordering items online unlike before where customers would visit markets and purchase various
products1. This has been brought about by the fear of contracting the virus as well as the
restrictions which have been introduced by the authorities. Additionally, consumers have now
changed the modes of payment where they are now using the electronic methods of paying
instead of using cash. This is a procedure that is meant to reduce the chances of getting the virus
since physical contacts cause people to contract the virus. Suppliers or business owners are now
forced to take products to their customers based on the orders that they make. In addition to this,
online businesses have advanced considering that people are now abandoning the stores.
