carem cut off a one inch strip from each side of a square photograph so that it would fit inside a square picture frame. He removed a total of twenty square inches. Write an equation to find the dimensions of the original photograph.

Please, note that the first time a strip of dimensions l*1 is cut from the original photo, where l is the length of each side of the original photo..

The second time a strip of dimensions 8l-1)*1 is cut from the photo.

The third time another strip whose dimensions (l-1)*1, is cut from the resulatant photo.

Finally the fourth time, a strip whose dimension (l-2)*1 is cut from the resultant photo.

So we can write:

l*1+(l-1)*1+(l-1)*1+(l-2)*1=20

and we find:

4l=24, from which l=6,

so each sides of the original photo had a length of l=6 inches
