REFLECTION ON CLINICAL ROTATION

Introduction
Clinical rotation is a nursing aspect that allows students to apply the knowledge learned in
class to real-life medical situations. The clinical rotation covers the two years of medical education
in which during this time students are allowed to shadow physicians and residents at the teaching
and referral hospitals where they gain valuable hands-on experience. Through the clinical rotation,
we are able to get involved in complex medical situations that allow the students to apply their
knowledge at length (Dolansky & Moore, 2013). As a result, the student’s scope of understanding
is enlarged as they get more experienced. Clinical rotations are used as a means of obtaining
residency position since they act as informal interviews for the nursing students. The
administrations, as well as the physicians with whom the students work with, are the ones who
write the recommendation letters. Therefore, it is paramount for the students to perform extremely
well.
