What Led the U.S. into World War 1?
The World War 1 was one of the greatest global catastrophic events that plagued the
beginning of the 21st century which was concentrated in Europe. During the 1900s, countries
such as Russia, Germany, and France competed for power and land, as a result of
nationalism. Particular countries created colonies and carried out imperialism. Nations made
their navies and armies stronger as they had an interest in protecting their empires. In Europe,
militarism turned out to be common. World’s economic great powers were involved in the
war which was put together in two conflicting coalitions: the Central Powers of Germany and
Austria-Hungary, and the Allies. In 1914, a member of the Austria’s royal family, Archduke
Franz Ferdinand, was killed by a Serbian activist, Bosnian Serb, Gavrilo Princip, who was a
member of the Serbian nationalist organization "Black Hand" in Sarajevo (Bosnia), an act
which resulted to Austria-Hungary proclaiming war on Serbia. As Serbia and Russia had an
