Identify one example of data at each level that might be collected to provide evidence for
the effectiveness of a class or training programs in which you have participated.
The Kirkpatrick’s model helps analyze the efficiency of a training program for future
improvement. The four levels are the reaction step, learning, behavior, and results. The reaction
level analyses how well the trainees received the training. At the level, the trainees could
participate in interviews to gather their responses. The learning level measures what knowledge
the employees have earned. An exam in the class could elaborate the findings. The third level
analyses the behavior change. Observation of interaction patterns and behaviors of the class can
provide the data on trends (Tamkin, 2002). The last level evaluates the overall results of the
training. In my training class, the number of people who understand the concept of the training
program is obtained from practical lessons on the field.
2. What do the CIPP and Brinkerhoff models of evaluation add to what is missing from
Kirkpatrick's model? What benefit, if any, is there to viewing evaluation in this way?
