Locke & Leyden W. (2010) first discuss the comparison between Thomas Hobbes and
John Locke based on the social contract guiding the people vis a vis their government. John
Locke is best known for his open belief in liberalism where his influence spread all over England
and America. He espoused his thoughts in the two Treatises of Government, 1960 where he
elaborated that the primary role of the state is to preserve the needs of its citizens. With that
Locke explained that when leaders fail to protect the interests of its citizens, the citizens have
