Ways of building and sustaining a workforce that is talented are some of the most
challenging problems that companies all over the globe face. There is a need for businesses to
adjust to changes in the population characteristics as well as the workforce needs so as to come up
with new capabilities meant to energize the organization. It is critical for organizations to continue
improving their talent management strategies in the changing world environments so as to achieve
success.
There are several factors which necessitated the change in the IBM management of talent
decisions as shown from a review of the article, "IBM's Global Talent Management Strategy: The
Vision of the Globally Integrated Enterprise." To overcome threatening competition from other
companies, IBM should change its talent management strategies. From the case study, Sam
Palmisano the CEO of IBM noticed that IBM's clients were moving to a company which had
greater ability in driving customers towards the competitor firms. The Globally Integrated
