The fraud theory was developed by Cressey in the year 1950 and in this theory; Cressey
identified the major elements of fraud on the grounds of the factors that drive various individuals
to indulge in fraudulent activities. This research later came to be known as the Fraud Triangle
Theory that identifies the major elements of fraud. These elements of fraud that necessitate the
occurrence of fraud include perceived pressure, the opportunity, as well as rationalization.
Opportunity involves the availability of the item involved in the fraud activity. For example, in
order for a person to steal, there must be something valuable that they can steal (Dorminey et al.,
2012). The opportunity can also include a weakness in a system that makes it sustainable to theft.
Among the three primary elements of fraud theory, an opportunity is primary very hard to
