A law enforcement agency can simply be defined as a government agency that is
responsible for enforcing the laws or ensuring there is obedience to the laws. In most cases, these
law enforcement agencies have powers which other government agencies may not have in order
to enable them to carry out their responsibilities. Some of these powers may include intrusive
powers for search and seizure as well as interception. Other powers may include exemption from
laws and jurisdiction override as well as the use of force and constraint of liberty.
