From a legal perspective and a business perspective, dealing with a 1099 independent contractor is going to be the easiest route. First of all, dealing with less benefits and a simpler pay structure eliminates a considerable amount of work ensuring correct bookkeeping associated with onboarding and individual as a full time employee. Also situations involving unemployment compensation or injury compensation, there are a much clearer and precise set of rules that can save a company millions in legal and administrative fees. Todays smart business leans towards independent contractors and will probably gravitate in that direction.
