Ingersoll Rand was formed in 1905 through a merger of the Rand Drill Company and
Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Company. The two rival companies used to offer nearly similar
products to the market. The Ingersoll Rand normally referred to as IR in New York Stock
Exchange (NYSE) was incorporated in Dublin, Ireland. The headquarters of Ingersoll Rand
are located in North Carolina, Davidson. As of 2016, January, Ingersoll Rand conducts
assembly and manufacturing in more than 51 plants in the world. The company also
maintains repair centers, warehouses, and offices worldwide. The company has been rapidly
growing since its merger and is expected to have more plants in other parts of the world in the
future.
The main objective of the company is to create a sustainable and efficient working
environment. The company offers products and services through registered distributors or
directly from the company to the customers in the global market. To gain the global
competitiveness, the growth strategy of the company is mainly through innovation and
technology and also through product management. The major brands of the company include
Thermo King, Trane, Club Car, Ameristar, and ARO Pumps, Ingersoll Rand a brand of air
tools, compressors, and material handling tools (Cramer et al, 2013). This paper encompasses
