Introduction.
Firms can capitalize on having diversity practices in their workplace so as to gain significant
business impacts. In this context, diversity can be said to be a business asset since companies
benefit financially, competitively and through other ways from having a diverse workforce, for
example, a diverse workforce may be more competitive, productive, low employee turnover, etc.
therefore, companies should take steps to embrace diversity in their workforce. In this paper, I will
discuss more about diversity being a business asset.
Question 1: Gains from diversity practices by Apple.
Apple is Silicon’s valley most diverse company as a tech giant. Apple has in fact been able to
significantly increase the employment levels of female workers and minority employees since
2014. Currently, women represent approximately 34% of the total workforce worldwide while
racial and ethnic minorities consisted of 54% of new hires in US alone in 2015. Though the steps
towards diversity in Apple have been slow, these actions depicts the commitment that Apple has
towards achieving diversity and inclusion in their workforce and clearly, Apple is a step ahead
compared to its peers in as far as diversity practices are concerned.
One of the benefits that Apple have gained from embracing diversity practices is increased
innovation and creativity. Apple has been known for its innovations in technology. Through their
diversity practices, Apple has been able to bring in a pool of talented and innovative personnel
