1.) How would you explain the difference between a ratio and a proportion without using numerical examples? Where do you see ratios and proportions in real-life?

2.)A ratio looks at the relationship between things, whereas a proportion looks at the equality of the two given ratio. When schools or different organization participate in various fund raising activities such as if you dine at Pizza Hut on a particular date and time a proportion of the funds will be donated back to the school or organization. An example that we may see in real life of ratios is in a daycare center. There are various class in a daycare center. By law there are suppose to be a certain amount of teachers in a classroom in regards to the number of students that are in the class. For instance, the school age classroom ratio is 18:1. Therefore, if there is 19 students in the room the classroom will need to have another teacher in the room.

3.)How have you used the Pythagorean Theorem to perform a task before? Decribe the context and how the calculations were applied. If you can't think of an example, provide an application in which it could be used, such as a feild or occupation. Provide full details in your description.

4.)There are several occupations that uses the Pythagorean Theorem. An architect is an occupation that uses the Pythagorean Theorem. Architects design buildings, therefore they spend a great amount of time drawing plans for the building. They do this to ensure that everything fits properly and to make sure that there is adequate amount of space for the structure to come together. Using the Pythagorean Theorem assist the architects with obtaining the correct measurements they will need to build their building successfully. Another occupation that uses the Pythagorean Theorem is Surveyors. Surveyors measure and map properties for the government, home owners, and business. Surveyors have to be able to measure lines with ease thus the Pythagorean Theorem helps with measuring those lines.
