Question Description

My car is stuck in drive even when I move the shifter to reverse or neutral. I was at a gas station yesterday and I attempted to back out of my parking space. When I moved the shifter to reverse, the car didn't move. When I put it in neutral the car moved forward. I had the car towed, and the gentleman said the car moved forward even when he put in reverse. What could be the problem? Thanks.

Hi,

Check the transmission shift linkage. Normally, you just need to tighten the bolt. If you are not sure where to find it, bring it to a mechanic and ask them to tighten it up linkage retaining bolt.
