Missing Data in Statistical Analysis

Noteworthy, missing information in the course of carrying out a statistical test is a
common phenomenon where some responses are missing from the entire data sheet. In most
case, the issue of missing data emanate where a respondent fails to respond to a particular issue
driven by various motives, for instance, personal issues affecting the respondent, such as the
religion of an individual among others in which the interviewee feels uncomfortable to respond
(Langkamp, Lehman, & Lemeshow, 2010). Thus, missing data phenomena could occur in either
an entire questionnaire or some no responses on one or a few question in a data-collecting tool.
As result, the no response question reflects in a data set as missing data, which require the data
analyst making a decision on how to treat the missing information in course of running a test to
minimize chances of affecting the outcomes of the results.
