Intelligence is the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or difficult situations.
It is also the ability to apply knowledge in the manipulation of one’s environment in trying to
find information or information that is analyzed and converted into a product that supports a
particular situation. The United States has in the recent past faced a lot of terror threats and even
attacks such as the 9/11 attack and many others. Despite all the destruction and loss of lives, it
has been able to come out even stronger and now the most influential state. The reason behind its
overcoming the terror attacks is the strong intelligence team that works day and night to ensure
that terrorism is eradicated.
The main role of the intelligence team includes the collection of information; processing
and analysis of information and dissemination of the accurate information to relevant bodies.
They also provide possible solutions regarding a given situation (Lughbank, 2010). The
intelligence team in Homeland security department has been able to come up with several
strategies to accomplish their mission. They include;

Use of strategic intelligence; they have developed this for long term planning for
security purposes. This involves the use of computers to produce clear evaluations
and brief intelligence assessment and in the identification of potential terrorist
operations and targets within the community. This method is also used by the
intelligence team to predict when and where future terrorist acts might take place.
This, therefore, helps them to prepare and take prior actions to stop the attacks
before they take place.

identifying potential terror points and finding ways to deal with them.

Collaboration; Homeland intelligence team has been able to work with various
entities such as the federal and governments respectively and the police force, all
this is directed to security provision and curbing of terror attacks. They have also
succeeded in getting relevant information from the public regarding terror threats
and unusual situations.

help in the process of combating terrorism. Each level of government has to understand and have
accountability through the efficient use of available resources in fighting terrorism. The United
States federal government has been keen in matters regarding terrorism since the 9/11 attack and
it is working to ensure that another attack does not take place (Turzanski, 2007).It is up to the
