Healthcare is one of the critical areas that call for conscience interpretation in case there
are issues of objection. The health care sector is considered as an area of objector that is
concerned with the involvement of certain doings such as euthanasia or abortion that are
considered as violations of genuinely held religious beliefs (Bethancourt, Walker, & Moore,
2017). Importantly, jurisdiction ruling employs the concept of the conscious objection of the
conscience clause that exempts the doctors and other health care practitioners from participating
in activities that are deemed as objectionable (Mitchell, 2013). However, the dilemma of the
interpretation between religious and jurisdiction is a broad area that brings out an argument on
whether religious conscience of employees should be a factor of concern while making the
ruling. Therefore, the case of Hobby Lobby is a multifaceted issue that underscores these two
concepts and thus it is empirically evaluated in this paper from a legal perspective and religious
conscience approach.
The ruling of the Supreme Court over the Hobby Lobby case sent ripples throughout the
nation regarding religion life and women rights in public life. According to the court ruling, the
owners of the profit making organization should not be forced to provide their employees with
particular types of contraceptives that are against their religious beliefs as stated under the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Richey, 2014). However, the decision by the Supreme Court is not
substantial and had no enough bases to make the decision. In fact, the ruling raises concern on
the scope of the religious liberty in the United States and the question of whether bosses have the
power to impose their religious beliefs on their employees (Bristow, 2017). Consequently, there
