I used the formula to Cowling's Rule to solve for parts a and b First using the known variable to substitute for variable D= 500 mg of amoxicillin.  substituted variable a variable of 4 being the child's age d= 500 (4+1)/24.

If the child is 4  and the adult dose is 500. then the required dosage for the child aged 4 is:

d= 500 * (4+1)/24 = 500 *5/24 = 2500/24 = 104.2 mg Amoxicillin
