VALUE ADDED SERVICES IN HEALTHCARE INSTITUTION

In today’s extremely competitive atmosphere, the survival, maintenance and success of
health care centers are governed by the ability to deliver quality-added services to their patients
at the lowest affordable cost. As such, managers and must, therefore, identify their customers and
meet the needs, expectations, and desires of those customers (Ahmed, 2016). Essentially, an
established approach for sustaining these needs as well as expectations is very crucial. For that
reason, this paper will primarily focus on how to add value to the Paradise Hospital in California,
United States. In particular, the paper will explore various reasons as to why it is important to
add value to various services at the hospital and outline a structure for detecting the useful areas
in which changes and improvements are needed to improve average hospital performance.

At its simplest definition, value added service refers to available options that can be used
to complement core services offered by an institution, organization or a company. On that note,
value-added services can be something extra provided to customer at no additional charge.
However, the structure of a value-added service mostly differ from one healthcare to the other
depending on whether the management sees the added service as a platform to create a stronger
relationship with consumers or as a source of additional revenue (Ahmed, 2016).
In a health care context where patients and doctors are involved, value-added service
refers to all the efforts that aim at improving the overall condition of the medical facility.
Specifically, the primary objective of value-added service in this situation is to make
improvements on various services provided to patients. Therefore, it is expected that patients will
appreciate the standard of services offered by the health care institution and make them desire to
consult with the same institution later in the future (Gibbons, 2013). We have numerous value-
