Licking County is at a high risk of increased obesity cases and related complications, as evidenced by the
number of children and adolescents hospitalized for obesity-related complications.
Target Population (Needs to have a narrower focus then the entire community)
Target group: Middle-aged people.
Middle-aged people and those within the retirement bracket happen to be at the highest risk of suffering from
obesity (Gadde, Martin, & Berthoud et al., 2018). Also, more young men and women aged between fifteen and
twenty-five present a highly “desirable” body mass index (BMI) than other age categories. The age groups are
vital because they form the transition phase between adolescence and adulthood. People from the age group
start to become responsible for food, purchasing, planning, and preparation issues.
Men from the two critical categories are more likely to be underweight as they are anticipated to be obese.
However, despite narrowing down to a focus group, the study must seek to present an exercise that establishes
substantive data across all age categories.
