(a) Write down its official mission and vision statements (i.e., those on the official websites)
The company to focus on is Google. Google’s (n.d.) mission statement states the
organization’s focus is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible
and useful .” The vision further says that the organization's focus is “to provide access to the
world’s information in one click” (Google, n.d.).
(b) Evaluate the effectiveness (of the mission and vision statements) based on what you
learned in class about mission and vision statements
Based on what I have learned, the mission statement is clear and reflects Google’s
initiative of enabling consumers to access information at ease and speed. It outlines the strategies
used, such as organizing information, accessibility enhancement, and usability (Google, n.d.).
These measures propel the organization towards future progress, as stated in the vision
statement. When looking at the usability and efficiency of the search engines, they illuminate the
one-click ideology where users can access information flexibly regardless of their geographical
position. This corresponds with the company's vision statement, whereby users can use simple
search terms, gathering the information they need that matches their purpose.
(c) Describe its business model (using the business-model triangle we discussed in class).
1. Who-The company targets users across the globe to enable them to access quick information
through simple search terms. The company’s value on users globally and promoting democracy,
where the young and old can access diverse content, has been a strategic approach enabling
Google to transform the World Wide Web.

from users on the application.

3. How- search engines are innovative features in the Google platform that help fulfill the
company’s mission and vision. All users need to do is type their requests, and with one click,
they gather the information they need.
4. Why-Due to the relentless search for practical and better answers, Google (n.d.) founders saw
the need of creating a platform allowing people globally to learn through the gathered
information. Furthermore, the organization saw the need for creating a platform where users can
also make money by creating content that can benefit others.

The provision of both goods and services has become a common approach with many
organizations. However, the production of goods and delivery of services are two processes with
distinct differences that shape organizations' approaches to each aspect. The first difference
concerns the nature of the products that each process yields. Goods are tangible goods that
consumers obtain from the sellers, while services are intangible needs that need to be met (Choo
et al., 2021). This physical aspect means that goods are easier to quantify and value because
consumers can see them. Consequently, service provision tends to entail more consumer
engagements considering that service provision is predicated on connecting with the consumer
and maintaining a close relationship. Unlike goods, quantifying services is a more significant
challenge. The provider must make the consumer feel that the services are worth it, considering
that providers may charge different prices for similar services.
Service provision demands greater flexibility compared to goods production. The
production of goods is a pretty straightforward affair considering that the exact specifications
clients want are well-known in advance. Furthermore, consumers tend to know the specifications
of the available goods and choose the ones that fit their purpose. These factors pave the way for
the standardization of products. On the other hand, service delivery does not allow for precise
planning, considering that each customer has different needs and preferences. Whereas an
organization can generate many products and store them long before the customers come, service
provision requires the organization to wait for the consumers before undertaking the necessary
processes (Alzaydi et al., 2018). This difference implies that operation management must
develop flexible metrics to gauge productivity considering the difficulty of quantifying services.
