The Causes of Global Warming
Global Warming is the gradual increase in the temperatures on the surface of the earth, ranging
from the land, water coverage to the atmosphere. The temperature increase has been quantified in
the last 100 years to have increased by 0.75°C with 66% of this increase having been realized in
the past 40 years. This recent increase in a higher rate shows how bad the situation seems to be
getting year in year out (Bord, 2008). Incidences of temperature increase many years ago could
have been attributed to natural forces such as the tectonic movements, flow of air and climatic
conditions, however, this has not been the case in the recent past because a lot of the global
warming has been due to human causes. The natural greenhouse effects don’t place the globe in
any danger and instead keeps the earth temperatures safe for human existence. This had been the
case for the longest time of human existence but after the industrial revolution, the effects of
human activities on the environment started to be felt, increasing the greenhouse effect and as a
result leading to the average temperatures of the earth to increase by close to 1°C and this was a
big step to the negative side for the world to the effects of global warming that the globe faces
today. Scientists have worked on proving that 85%-90%of the increase in global temperatures
has been due to human activities (Delworth, 2000). Global warming has had many effects in the
world and has been faulted for the acceleration in the melting of ice sheets, the permafrost and
the glaciers and which have as a result lead to the raise of the waters in the sea, manipulating the
precipitation and weather trends, causing desertification and occurrence of strong hurricanes
among other complex problems.
Human impact has been an intense issue now since humans don't provide the needed care to the
earth anymore. The human characteristics and activities that cause the worldwide global
warming are more than natural causes which cause dangerous effects on the environment. The
whole globe has on b...
