## Description

5-7 pages with 2 references

In preparation for a meeting with upper-level management, you decide to conduct research on the role of statistical forecasting in decision analysis.

Write a paper of 5–7 pages discussing the importance of accreditation and credentialing, strategies for quality improvement, and the role of statistics and statistical forecasting in the process. Your paper should address the following:

• What are the steps involved in the statistical forecasting process?
• Provide at least 3 examples of statistical analysis tools used for forecasting.
• What role does statistical forecasting play in the quantitative health care decision analysis process?
• How can forecasting used to determine the needs within an organization for purposes of quality improvement?
• Your discussion should include how you can use statistical forecasting related to patient treatment, readmissions, emergency room (ER) wait times, and so forth as a means of determining what areas to focus on for the quality initiative.

Statistical Analysis, Forecasting, and Quality Improvements
Statistical forecasting has been embraced in some healthcare facilities and institutions.
This aims at improving the quality of care through aspects such as reduction of mortality rates
within the premise, reduction of readmissions, reduction of hospital acquired infections and other
unwanted outcomes. In addition, it is used to predict the future of a given healthcare facility
through forecasting and designing best decision models on the basis of the quantitative evidence.
Statistical forecasting has protocols and benefits, as discussed in this paper.
Steps of statistical forecasting
The first step in statistical forecasting is defining the problem. A forecast is addressed to
a certain issue and it is reported to given authorities who need the information. In healthcare,
there are many issues that need to be forecasted such as the nosocomial infections, and it is
essential to go down to the specific infection, for instance hospital acquired acute renal infection.
Other cases include, but are not limited to, deaths during surgery, readmissions, stray treatments
and emergencies. Information from the data is supposed to concern certain individuals and it
should mention them, and it should also be addressed to someone, for instance the HRM function
of the hospital (Ali, & Bhaskar, 2016). The second step is gathering data. After the problem is
stated, the population to be studied is identified, and it is also essential to identify a control
population to prove that the data is not ambiguous. After selecting the population, the method of
data collection, for instance through an scrutiny of the hospital records for issues like infant
mortality rates or number of readmissions, or interviews in the...
