The Importance of Wound Care in Nursing
Wound care is the exact kinds of care for pressure sores, ulcers of the skin and other
gases that rupture the skin. Other abrasions that may profit from expert wound management
procedures are diabetic ulcers of the feet, traumatic abscesses caused by damage, ulcers of
arteries and veins because of the absence of blood flow, and scalds. In short, it is the stoppage of
difficulties from having wounds and also providing healing to the wounds. The process of wound
care includes cleaning which involves using clean hands to clean the wound area with water and
soap, then disinfection which is applying antibiotic creams or medication on the wound to
prevent the wound from infection. Finally is protection, which is covering the wound with
dressings to prevent germs from entering the wound and also to keep the wound in a moist
environment as it leads to fast healing. (Baranoski and Ayello, pg. 29)This research paper will go
into depth to explain why it is important for there to be wound care in nursing as we cannot
underestimate its importance.
First of is that when nurses do wound care, it prevents cases of infection from the wound
care. Diseases are caused when bacteria and germs enter a wound when it is open and is not
taken care of properly. When wounds get infected, they can cause the person to get sick from the
bacteria and cause the wound area to rot and the skin cells to die off causing the area of the skin
to get dark and thus will cause death...
