The TED talk “School Kill Creativity” was presented by a British educator, Ken Robinson
in the year 2006. According to Robinson, the schools today only teach education but do not teach
creativity, which should be the main focus of the system in all schools. While at school, children
are taught on how to excel in academics but very few schools focus on excellence in arts and
music. When the parents or the teachers to a student identify a child to have a talent in, for instance,
music and arts, such a child is discouraged from engaging in such activities and is told that they
cannot get them any job in the future (Robinson and Aronica, 2013).
When growing up, children do not really care if they are wrong or right about something.
However, when a child is told by a senior that a particular activity is wrong, the child will never
want to make a similar mistake in the future. This is the point when the children start losing their
creativity. When a child loses his or her creativity, then such a child may never find out what they
like to engage in or what they are good at. This is the kind of the education system that we are
subjecting our children to today, a system that is not made for anythin...
