Introduction
In the article " Worry About the Right Things," "The Media Likes Scaring Us," John
Stossel scrutinizes the media on their role in hyping fake news to scare the public. Stossel
highlights major incidences that show the effect of the media and the Fear Industrial Complex on
the media consumers. Everyone has access to social media channels, and hence, any news can
reach a broad audience. The 20/20 videos on YouTube focus on exciting some of the dangers,
such as dangers of lawn chemicals and cell phones that scare the consumers, making them more
conscious of their environment (Stossel, 2007).

media hypes fake news, he is not proud of what the media has been doing (Stossel, 2007). As he
