the release of this energy.
Freud viewed personality to be composed of three things, a preconscious mind, a conscious

the preconscious mind and in the conscious mind. It acts as a moderator between the id
and the superego, regulating desires and wishes. The ego is a location of the reality
principle, the location that bares an ability to interact with the outside world possessing
appropriate goals and activities.
