Part 2 of the course project is to identify potential organizational barriers and resistance that might be encountered as a result of the upcoming changes. This section of the course project should focus upon the impacts the planned changes will have on employees within the organization, types of barriers that might result from employee resistance to the upcoming changes, and strategies that might be used to overcome those barriers.

You are not required to identify which strategies will be selected to deal with anticipated employee resistance to change. Rather, this section should identify possible strategies for overcoming the barriers and evaluate their potential effectiveness in the selected scenario.

You must incorporate at least four other scholarly resources as part of their examination of potential strategies for overcoming anticipated barriers to change. You should begin by identifying the scenario that has been selected for the course project.

Part 2 of the Course Project should be four to six pages in length, not counting the cover and reference pages. Use APA style format for this projects.

PREPARING FOR AN ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE
Today in our economy, changes in all organizations have become all-pervasive, inevitable and
happening in a rapid and continuous speed. It is necessary for the growth of all the company.
From project one; we had identified the scenario for our selected course project. It was The Light
of Children, Youth and Women Empowerment International which is a Non-Governmental
Organization having its headquarters in the UK. The organization wanted to diversify by opening
its branches in the rural towns of Western African Countries like Morocco, Gambia and the rural
areas of Libya, Egypt and Congo-Zaire and in Southern African countries like Swaziland,
Botswana, and Zambia. Upon doing this diversification, there existed some potential
organizational barriers plus also resistance that will be encountered upon these changes. In this
course, we will focus strictly on impacts of the changes upon the employees in the organization,
then the barriers resulting from the employee resistance upon the upcoming changes and also the
strategies that will be used to overcome the barriers.
Some of the organizational barriers may include Complex Organizational Structure that the
organization will encounter. Upon diversification, greater management level number will be
required. This is a barrier which will cause a delay in message delivery due to the larger number
of management levels and may change in the message meaning before it reaches the receiver.
Communication always in an organization is important and if the employees interact together
effectively, it will bring a total change and improvement to the organization. It may also include
changes in hierarchical or status positions in the organization.
Upon changes and diversification of any organization or a company, there will be employee’s
resistance due to the changes. Employees will be impacted through fear of them losing their jobs.
This is because, upon opening of other branches, more employees will be needed in the UK and
the more experienced employees will be taken to the rural offices in Africa. The more

experienced employees then fear them being taken to Africa from the UK and them losing their
positions to new applicants in the UK. Also, the employees are impacted on them fearing the
unknown. Due to this type of organizational change, employee's reactions can range just from
fear then panic to enthusiastic support. Employees fear the unknown and especially when they
learn about them being taken to rural areas of Africa where food and security is a problem and
the environment is not that pleasant as it was in the UK, this turns to be a great impact on them.
Employees also fear losing control over what they had always been managing. The changes will
force many employees already in the organization to change the way they operate and this will
make them feel confused and powerless. This is due to new responsibilities being given to them
and the old ones being taken from them and given to other people, hence causing them lose
control and become armatures on the new responsibilities.
The upcoming changes in the organization will impact the employees into them lacking
competence. This will happen due to the fact that they are added new responsibilities in which
they are armatures, and with them also fearing trying new routines in their work areas, it makes
them lack competence of working. Office politics is also another impact on the employees that
will result due to the upcoming changes. Every organization has its own ‘in-house' politics where
when changes occur, some employees will resist and argue that the changes made are not right at
all to ‘prove something' to his or her fellow employees. This is a great barrier and also an impact
on the employees already in the company and all is because they do not want to go to Africa, and
hence they start protesting. News of change also will impact the employees into basing the
changes on their former change experience. If their form...
