There are several personality traits that I have maintained over the entirety of my life, and some that have matured and changed. In my youth I was always curious and competitive. I liked to find the reason behind things, and liked to do it faster or better than any friends or family I was with. Neither of these things has changed, as I am still always searching for the inner workings of the universe and trying to do it faster than my neighbor. There are lessons I've learned that have altered my personality though. I used to view intelligence as a fixed property, one that wasn't changed all that much by working at it. When I heard about Carol Dweck, and her work on the "growth mindset" all that started to change. I realized how obvious it was that hard work led to improvement, and there was research to prove it. After learning about that I realized I could be doing a lot more in school and life. Over the years, my personality regarding work ethic has shifted farther away from being lazy and closer to hardworking.
