Genetic testing is beneficial, whether the results turn out to be positive or negative for a
particular gene mutation. The tests results obtained from gene testing can provide a person with a
sign of relief in circumstances where one has uncertainty about particular issues. In addition, the
results obtained can guide a person in making informed decisions about managing his or her health
care (Minor, 2015). For instance, if the results turn out to be negative, this can stop one from going
for unnecessary checkups or screening tests.
On the other hand, when the result is positive, then this can direct a person towards
obtaining the appropriate prevention and monitoring, as well as treatment options. Some of the test
results can also guide couples on making decisions about having babies. For newborns who
undergo screening, this helps in identifying any genetic disorders that a child may have so that he
or she can obtain treatment early enough (Minor, 2015). My stance on genetic testing is that it is
crucial for the positive development of human beings.
