prepare 500ml of 15% dextrose solution using D5W and D50W. how much of each solution will be needed.. how can I break this down to understand the way to solve it?

first of all you subtract the major figures involved using the cross multiplication here

D5W D50W

D15W

D35W D10W

Ratio becomes, 35: 10

=7: 2

therefore you require 7/9 of solution d5w and 2/9 of solution d50w

since you are making 500 mls

d5w=7/9*500mls= 388.89mls

d50w= 2/9*500mls=111.11mls

please best my answer and add me as your tutor so that i can explain to you if you dont understand
