Then describe the solution

1) 2x -3 = 2( 5 + x )

2) 4(p - 1 ) + 8 = - 10

3) -5n -2( n + 4 ) = - 7n - 8

4) 7( 2m - 2 ) - 5m = 9m -14

1. contradiction.  2x-3 = 10+2x. Left side cannot be equal to right side

2. 4(p-1) +8 = -10. Simplify. 4p -4 + 8 = =10

    4p =6  conditional equation   p= 6/4 = 3/2

3.  -5n -2 (n+4) = -7n -8

  Simplify. -5n -2n -8 = -7n -8

       -7n -8 = -7n -8.    Therefore an identity

4.  7 (2m-2) -5m = 9m -14

     14m -14 -5m =9m -14

    9m-14 = 9m -14.  Therefore anidentity
