The mass media refers to the technology that is usually intended to spread information to
a mass audience. This is the primary method of communication that is employed by various
entities with the aim of reaching the public. In order for the general public to get access to
information regarding different issues such as politics, issues to do with entertainment as well as
social issues among others. The mass media is used as the greatest agents of socialization.
Because of the mass media’s ability to reach a large audience, sometimes it is usually
manipulated by people at high positions so as to make their followers conform to what they want
(Biagi, 2012). For instance, mass media can be manipulated by the use of propaganda and can
also be manipulated through censoring so as to prevent people from getting to know about
certain events. Such issues that people may be kept away from include issues that affect the
government directly.
